Baja California – Week 3 Report

Great Whale Conservancy Co-Directors Mike Fishbach and Gershon Cohen recently spent some quality time with a few gray whale friends in Magdalena Bay, along the west coast of Baja Mexico.  Mike was down south for his annual winter work project, taking photo ID’s of blue whales in the Sea of Cortez.  When the wind kicked up in the Sea of Cortez, they headed west across the Peninsula to the Pacific side.  One can never see too many whales…  

A beautiful March 1st along the west coast of the Baja Peninsula, and GWC staff enjoyed the company of more than fifty gray whale cows and calves.  Several calves were as happy to see the humans as the humans were to see them and came up to the boat for a face massage and a good baleen scratching.  A great time was had by all…
