Man Captures Heartbreaking Ship Strike Victim Image

This sperm #whale's tail was cut off by a propeller from a boat.

The man who captured this photograph Francis Pérez recounts he could hear the cries of the injured creature, also the screams of the rest of the pod, surrounding this individual to protect it from attacks by sharks, eventually it was food for many marine species.

′′ It was the saddest day of my career ", says Francis, photographer of marine life for over 20 years.

In this day an age ship strikes are one of, if not THE, largest threats to endangered species of whales like the blue whale.
